“Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation.”
Martin Luther King Jr

What is mediation?

Mediation is about making positive agreements so that you can move on with your life. When family issues need to be sorted out, our family mediators work with you to help you be heard and talk things through, to manage your discussions and negotiations, and to provide you with relevant information to help you decide your own way forward.

Mediators are impartial professionals and the mediation process is both voluntary and confidential. Mediatiors are not legal advisors, when appropriate we will encourage you to seek legal advice alongside mediation. This gives you the best of both worlds: you use solicitors to obtain legal advice and use mediation to reach agreements. The agreements can then be turned into legally binding documents by your solicitors. Practically, this is a much quicker and cheaper way of resolving family disputes than via solicitors' correspondence or across a courtroom.

Most importantly, mediation offers significant emotional and psychological benefits to the whole family, particularly where children are involved. We offer a safe environment where you can be heard and understood, where the scope for acrimony is reduced and where you have the opportunity to move forward with dignity. Mediation is a way of giving you a chance to have a better sense of control over your lives, you both take responsibility for the discussions, compromises and decisions that are undertaken in mediation, instead of decisions being imposed on your family by a court.
